Products (All "READY TO BURN")

Seasoned Barn Stored Logs

We only sell loads of mixed hardwood logs, which are made up predominantly of Ash.

We also mix in a small variety of oak, field maple and sycamore. Which are all good hardwoods that burn excellently,  and are tried and tested on our own log burners!

When our timber is delivered into our yard, it is left to season in the round for approximately a year. It is then processed by efficient machines and transported to our covered barns to season for another year before it becomes available for sale. A long process but critical for providing our customers top quality logs. They are all cut to approximately 10 Inches in length, although the diameter will of course vary depending on the size of the tree it came from!

We deliver using our caged tipper truck, or if several loads are delivered in your area we may use our tipping trailer. We will reverse onto your driveway and your logs are tipped as close as possible to where you want them for you to put away. The load is a LOOSE load, not stacked and our vehicle is purposely designed with four 1 cubic Meter measured sections.

We also carry a smaller stock of 8" Logs for those who have smaller fires/burners and a larger sized logs for large domestic burners and biomass boilers.

Our quotes for Barn dried firewood start at £110 per cubic meter, please note this is just our starting price and it will vary depending on the volume of your order and distance of delivery. This includes VAT and delivery, discounts are available when multiple loads are purchased. Contact us now for a personalised quote.

Premium Kiln- Dried Logs
In 2015, in response to our customers repeated requests, we decided to install our own kiln, which we fuel with a Biomass Boiler. We are now  happy to be able to also offer people an extra premium firewood product. We locally source and split our mixed hardwood timber as we do with the barn stored logs, but we then transfer a percentage of those to our large industrial kiln where it remains for up to 3 weeks until the moisture content reduces to less that 10%.
Our quotes for Kiln Dried Firewood start at £125 per cubic meter, please note this is just our starting price and it will vary depending on the volume of your order and distance of delivery. This includes VAT and delivery, discounts are available when multiple loads are purchased. It is slightly more expensive, but the advantages are well worth it as you can see in the section below. Contact us now for a personalised quote.

Why Burn Kiln Dried?

People often ask us what the difference is between Barn Stored and Kiln-Dried so we have made a few key points for you to help you understand what you get for your money.

1. Moisture content of Barn Stored is roughly 16-20% , whereas Kiln-Dried is around 10-14%.

2. Less moisture in a log means less steam when you burn it. Steam will make the glass in  your stove dirty, and can sometimes even crack it. Which is why you should NEVER buy logs unless you know they have been fully seasoned.

3. Less steam means less tar is produced, and  your chimney or flue stays cleaner for longer, meaning the risk of chimney fires and toxic fumes being created is greatly reduced.

4. Kiln Dried Logs burn hotter and therefore produce more heat so your logs should last you longer if you burn them correctly. The science behind it is that the lower the moisture content in a piece of wood, the more energy is produced.

5. When there is a lower moisture content, less air is required to keep your fire going. Because they burn hotter you can close the vents right down so you can have a slower, more controllable burn.

6. The logs are much easier to light so less kindling is required.
